I started my day sobbing. Actual tears of joy that what happened to me won't happen to someone else. 🥹😭😍🎉After 18 long months of review, the PWFA was signed into law today!(Pregnant Workers Fairness Act)Thanks to laws like this, pregnant people have more protection against the BS that some of us have endured trying to work and grow humans.✨You can't tell pregnant staff that their water is expected to break in their desk chair. ✨You can't tell women to choose between keeping their job and having their spouse present for birth. ✨You can't approve 6 weeks of flex work when the due date is 8 weeks away. ✨You can't ask about child care plans.✨You can't force 8 mo pregnant women to travel in order to do their jobs.✨You can't make a "business need" for the job to be in one place when it's perfectly capable of being done remotely. Thank you COVID for showing how effective remote work is not only possible, but way easier and more accessible than we thought. Thank you to the people that have pushed and pushed and pushed to make this law active. And again - if you see me in tears today, just know that I'm so happy for those after me that will have more protection than I did. 🥹🥹🥹#ada #pwfa #pregnancy #workplacerightsETA: The PWFA went into effect on June 27, 2023. On April 15, 2024 the EEOC issued its final regulation to carry out the law. The final regulation goes into effect 60 days from April 19, 2024.
